Richard Volunteers to Help Guide Dogs UK at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Richard Minchin, Director, Software Development, Micro Focus, based in the UK, used his volunteering day earlier this year to help the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association build their 90th anniversary garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021.

Richard says: “I used my Micro Focus INSPIRE volunteering days to help Guide Dogs UK build their 90th anniversary garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

The garden was built to raise awareness of the charity and to show Guide Dogs' history. A changing pathway illustrated the journey that somebody with sight loss takes from fear and isolation, to a life of enrichment and independence. The garden gained a lot of press and TV coverage during the week, so was a huge success for the charity. I spent four days helping with the garden build, working as a labourer. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see the Guide Dog puppies as they only arrived on Press Day!"
