Micro Focus Romania colleagues team up to support online education

A group of six employees from the Micro Focus Romania Cluj-Napoca Research & Development (R&D) team used their two COVID-19 volunteering days support local schools in implementing an education project run in partnership with the Romanian Ministry of Education and Microsoft.

Called the “The Class of the Future”, the project entailed rolling out a free digital educational platform to public schools across the country. Micro Focus employees volunteered to advise and assist school representatives on implementing the project within the allocated counties.

Ioana Pop, HR Business Partner and Corporate Social Responsibility Ambassador, Micro Focus, says: “We provided guidance and trained up school staff, which in turn will have a major impact on continuing online education in Romania during COVID-19.”

Brigitte-Izabella Mois, Software Engineer, Micro Focus, says: “I got involved in this project because it represented an opportunity for me to contribute to a cause and assist others from the comfort of my home. Volunteering is important to me because it helps me reduce stress and provides me a sense of purpose. I also appreciate the chance to connect with other people.”

Laura-Andrada Buzas, Software Engineer, Micro Focus, says: “The pandemic has put a lot of pressure on the education system in Romania, and to help make it work I decided to volunteer. It was an interesting and pleasant experience."
