Micro Focus Israel has partnered with Appleseeds Academy, a non-profit organization that promotes digital equality, to design and introduce an online personal development and mentoring program called One by One, which aims to empower and support women to enter and develop meaningful careers in technology.
Since launching the program almost a year ago, six Micro Focus employees have used their volunteering days to mentor six women from the Appleseeds Academy – of which five have since gone on to find employment. Through a series of online face-to-face meetings, employees work with the women to help build their self-confidence and share practical skills, including management and leadership skills, and job interview guidance.
Hadas Dolev, Israel INSPIRE Ambassador, says: “The program has been a fantastic achievement. Over the past year, Micro Focus employees have mentored women who are nearing the end of a vocational retraining course in programming, delivered through the Appleseeds Academy, and assisted them in the entire process of integrating into the industry and finding work. The feedback we received was very positive, from both our employee volunteers and the women students they mentored.”
