Are Asset Management X and Asset Manager the same product?

No. While AMX contains many of the same features and capabilities of Asset Manager, they are not the same. AMX was developed from scratch on our unified SMAX platform to deliver a common, integrated service management experience for all of IT.

Is configuration management built into AMX?

Yes. The Universal CMDB is native to AMX, allowing for a common repository of configuration data across OpenText IT Asset Management, IT Service Management , and Cloud Management solutions, as well as 3rd-party solutions.

Are there additional add-ons to the core AMX product?

Additional discovery and software asset management licenses can be purchased as needed. Additional user licenses can also be purchased. AMX is included at no charge to SMAX Premium customers . AMX customers can upgrade to SMAX Premium too.

Can Asset Management X integrate with Microsoft SCCM and other tools?

Yes. It integrates with SCCM, BigFix, ILMT, and constantly growing number of other 3rd-party tools and solutions.

Can it be expanded to manage software not listed out of the box?

Yes. The combination of Universal Discovery and AMX can recognize and manage nearly 160,000 different software titles, and can even be taught to recognize and manage proprietary or custom-developed software and vendors as well.
